- Armenia Marriott Hotel to Be Inaugurated June 14
YEREVAN- On Sunday, June 14, President Robert Kocharian will inaugurate the 246-room Armenia Marriott Hotel complex with the participation of Boston based investors, Marriott Hotel officials and guests. AK Management of Boston, which owns the new hotel, is a partnership of a group of investors mainly from Boston whose members are Nishan and Kevork Atinizian and their families, Paul Korian, Gail O"Reilly, Charles Talanian and Nevart Talanian. The hotel, which is being managed by Marriott, represents a five-year commitment and an investment of approximately $38 million. The former Armenia Hotel has been redone completely and rebuilt to international standards. The plumbing, the electrical system and every column, every supporting beam has been examined. Each room or suite has tiled bathrooms, cable television and safes in the rooms for valuables. The hotel also houses two restaurants, a Viennese café and an executive floor for conferences, seminars and business meetings. Armenians of Armenia are carrying out the renovation and it will provide jobs for about 300 employees, once it is inaugurated. AK Management selected Marriott as its manager in part because Marriott offered the best training program. The investors want this hotel to be a model for other Armenian investors and encourage others to take on similar endeavors.
